Our third day at Wick Court Farm has been packed with exciting learning experiences, fresh air, and plenty of muddy boots!

Today, some of the children had a fascinating introduction to beekeeping, learning about the vital role bees play in pollination and how honey is made—from hive to jar. They had the chance to look at real beekeeping equipment and even peek inside a hive (safely, of course!). The curiosity and enthusiasm shown by the children was a joy to see.

In the afternoon, some children moved on to some hands-on gardening, where the children helped with planting and tending to the farm’s vegetable plots. They learned about composting, soil health, and seasonal growing, getting stuck in with trowels and watering cans.

Another highlight was weighing pigs, which sparked plenty of laughter and thoughtful discussion about animal care and growth. The children showed great teamwork and gentle handling of the animals, which impressed the farm staff.

We’ve also been so happy with the praise the children have received. The housekeepers have commented on how clean and tidy their rooms have been kept—no small feat after days on a working farm! Meanwhile, the farm educators have talked about their politeness, calm demeanor, and inquisitive questions during all their activities.

We are incredibly proud of every child for representing our school so brilliantly. They’re learning so much, not just about farming and nature, but about responsibility, curiosity, and kindness.

On the menu today has been roast beef, Eton Mess and build your own burritos! 😋

We can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
