The children took full advantage of a very rainy day and learnt that they needed to wear special clothes to keep themselves dry when playing outdoors in wet weather. They tried really hard to get themselves dressed and when they were ready they had great fun splashing in the puddles. As they splashed, the children played ‘ready, steady, go’ and listened carefully to an adult before splashing. The children learnt how to assess risks when playing in the rain. They learnt that some surfaces were more slippy than others and remembered where they needed to be more careful. The children also learnt how to collect rain water and enjoyed talking about capacity.
