As part of our Science Learning we have been grouping animals. We first thought about our favourite animals and the similarities and differences between them. We identified some mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds and fish.

Then we each had an animal and sorted them as a class. We set categories like 'walks on 4 legs, doesn't walk on 4 legs'. 'Swims underwater, doesn't swim underwater.' 'Lives on land, lives on sea' - This one was a particularly interesting question because we had to decide what to do with animals like penguins - we decided to make a section in the middle for animals that do both.

We also had the categories 'Can fly, doesn't fly'. We had different birds to sort in our animals, we looked at animals with wings that could fly and animals with wings that do not fly like an ostrich or penguin.
