Here are some ideas of how you can help extend your child's learning at home this week!

Feel free to send in photos of any of these activities to share in class. These can be emailed to admin@holbeach.lewisham.sch.uk and just write '1R home learning' in the subject title so they will be forwarded to our class!

Bedtime stories 

If you don't already, start the habit of reading to your child every night as part of their bedtime routine. This could be picture storybooks or even chapter books from school, charity shops or your local library. This is precious time to spend together and you and your child will treasure these moments forever!!

Phonics 

There are some helpful sound mats in the front of the new reading records, take some time with your child as they tell you about these! Can they teach you the sounds and actions? 

Reading 

Listen to your child read their phonics book even just 5-10 minutes each day. Let them sound out and blend each word carefully, don't help too quickly. If they only read one or two pages at a time that is fine.

Maths 

Count objects around the house. Anything and everything can be counted!

English 

We have been writing sentences that start with 'I can see'. You could write a few sentences for things you can see outside your window!

Art

In art this week we looked carefully at plastic models of animals including dinosaurs and noticed pattern, texture, shape and colour. We then took our time drawing and colouring. Find something natural in your garden, park or your fridge such as a leaf, plant, flower, fruit or vegetable and find some quiet time to sit and draw together and talk about the details you notice. Bring in your drawings or email photos!
