What a wonderful first few days in Reception!

We have been so proud of all the children and how brilliantly they have settled into their new class. Starting Reception is such a big step, and it has been lovely to see the children coming into school with growing confidence and enthusiasm.

The children have been busy getting to know their new friends and teachers, building relationships and beginning to feel part of our Shell Class family. We have enjoyed watching friendships develop as the children play together, share resources, talk to one another and explore their new environment.

We have also been learning all about our new Reception routines. The children are becoming more independent every day, from finding their belongings and putting things away to choosing activities, looking after themselves and following our classroom routines. There is a lot to remember when you are new to school, so we are taking our time and giving the children lots of encouragement along the way.

And how smart they have all looked in their new uniforms! It has been wonderful to see them looking so grown up and ready for their exciting Reception adventure.

A little reminder about what your child needs each day:

💧 A named water bottle

🧥 A coat, as the weather can change throughout the day

👕 A named bag of spare clothes, including underwear and socks

Please make sure that EVERYTHING is clearly labelled with your child's name. This includes coats, jumpers, cardigans, water bottles and spare clothing. With lots of little people having very similar items, labels make it much easier for us to return belongings to the right child!

Next week

The children will continue to be collected at 1:30pm while they are settling into their new routines. This gives them the opportunity to gradually build up their confidence and independence without making the first few weeks feel too overwhelming.
