Turtle class learning
In nursery this week, we have been busy little turtles.
We had two focus books this week. one was called I like me and the other was called Super duper you.
We made self portraits this week by looking in mirrors to see what colours we needed for our skin, hair and eyes. Everyone done a great job and the self portraits are displayed around our classroom. We also done a short circle time where we looked in the mirrors and said words of affirmations to ourselves. Our favourite was "Hi good looking" which is a line from the story I like me!
Some of us shared our family photos and we learnt how to say hello in Ghanaian, Spanish and Malay!
Turtle class also decorated the first letter of their names, which is great for building name recognition and fine motor skills.
Our rhyme of the week was wind the bobbin up. The children really enjoyed this and already knew the rhyme well. We sung it fast and slow and and used big and small movements. We also touched on positional language, next to, behind and in front of. The children then continued their skills within the provision. We will continue with this rhyme next week.
Turtle class have started to make a height chart outside (some of you may have noticed at drop off or pick up) They really enjoyed this and were using some great language. We still need to finish measuring our new friends. I wonder who will be the tallest!
During the week, there has been lots of new friendships forming with all our new starters and all of turtle class have been demonstrating lots of sharing and turn taking. Well done Turtle class.
We have also been enjoying our new music area outside and have been exploring different sounds.
Next week we will start to introduce Autumn so may we please ask that if you are out and about at the weekend, coulf you collect some leaves for us.
Thanks for your continued support.
