During our first basketball lesson this week, we learned that basketball is an invasion game, where teams try to move the ball into their opponents’ area to score points. We focused on developing our dribbling skills and learned that good dribblers keep their heads up, use their fingertips to control the ball and bounce it at waist height. We also learned some important dribbling rules: you must bounce the ball with one hand while moving, you cannot stop dribbling and then start again (double dribble), and you must not travel without bouncing the ball. We enjoyed practising these skills through a variety of fun games.
