Visit to the UCL Observatory
January 23, 2026
Yesterday, 5F travelled to North London to visit the UCL Observatory.
We were taken on a tour by students of Astrophysics at the university. They showed us 4 of the telescopes that they use to study the planets, stars and moons in our solar system. It was absolutely fascinating and we were allowed to press the buttons that moved the huge telescopes and even the roofs!
Along the way, we asked lots of interesting questions about space that the students answered. At the end, the students answered some of the questions that we had sent them in advance. As a class, we are particularly interested in Black Holes and we found out more about 'spaghettification'.
