Surrey Dock Farm Visit
Yesterday 1S went on an educational visit to 'Surrey Docks Farm'. We travelled by bus to get there and were so well behaved and patient when faced with lots of delays and having to change bus mid-route! Once off the bus we had a 20 minute walk to the farm where we got to take in some views of the river Thames too.
When we arrived at the farm, we first saw the ducks and geese swim. Then we had a workshop where Tracey from the farm showed us pictures of vegetables and we talked about the part of the vegetable that we eat. Can you remember what part of the carrot you eat? What about a cabbage? Next everyone planted some cress seeds that they will be bringing home today. We were told to put them somewhere with lots of sun (windowsill) and water them. In about about 10 days you should have some cress.
Next we ate our lunches! We had a quick lunch and were very lucky to have the rain whilst we were eating. We got to stay nice and dry.
After lunch, Tracey took us on tour of the farm. She talked to us about all the animals that live there and the different plants that are being grown. We had a very exciting end to the visit, when we got to feed the goats and the sheep before heading back to school.
It was a fantastic day, the children did lots of walking and were beautifully behaved! Well done 1S, you did Holbeach proud!
