Mini beasts and sunflowers
We are continuing to take great care of our seedlings in Nursery, and the children have enjoyed checking on them each day. Our tomatoes, marigolds and salad leaves are growing fast now, and it’s been exciting to see the changes as they get bigger and stronger.
This week, we will be planting some sunflowers and thinking about what plants need to grow tall and healthy. We’re also going to investigate how to grow a mango plant from a seed.
Alongside our planting, we’ve been learning about small creatures, including frogs, woodlice and spiders. We’ve talked about where they live, what they need to survive and how to look after living things with care and respect.
Important reminder: the whole school will be closed on Thursday as the building is being used as a polling station. We will be open as usual on Friday.
At home, when you’re cooking or eating together, try looking closely at your fruit and vegetables. Can you spot any pips, seeds or stones? What do you notice about their size, shape or number? We’d love to hear what the children discover.
