Happy 100th Birthday David Attenborough
This week has flown by with the bank holiday and polling day, but we still managed to fit lots of exciting learning into our week together.
The children have loved spending time junk modelling and using their creativity to make a variety of different mini beasts. We saw some fantastic ideas and the children worked hard to talk about the features of the insects they were creating.
Today we celebrated the 100th birthday of David Attenborough. We watched some of his wonderful documentaries about mini beasts and talked about why insects are so important to our world. The children enjoyed celebrating by making playdough cakes, designing birthday cards and making tasty honey sandwiches. In maths, we also explored ten frames to help us understand what 100 looks like.
In maths this week we revisited halves. Previously we learnt about halving objects and this week we extended our learning by exploring even numbers and discussing how they can be shared equally into two groups.
In phonics we revisited the sound th which can be voiced and unvoiced. Please keep reading regularly at home and practising short cvc words. Letter formation is also very important at this stage, so any extra practise at home will really support your child’s writing development.
A reminder that our class assembly will take place on Thursday 21st May at 10:15am. Your child will be bringing home a line to learn on Monday.
We look forward to seeing you there.
