This week in Reception we have been enjoying the story Zog. The children loved learning about the friendly dragon and we had lots of fun describing Zog using many of our digraph sounds. The children thought carefully about the different sounds they know and used them to think of words to describe him.

In our creative area we explored clay. The children used their hands to roll, press and shape the clay to create beautiful dragon eyes. They were very proud of their creations and showed great care when adding details.

We also celebrated Science Week. The children became little scientists and explored forces. One of our favourite experiments was watching water shoot out of a bottle. The children were very excited as they observed the force that made the water shoot furthest.

In phonics we have been learning about words that end with ing. The children enjoyed spotting and reading these words. We have also been learning the new sounds ow and oi and have been practising reading and saying words that contain these sounds.

Finally we would like to wish all of our lovely mothers a very Happy Mother’s Day. The children have made a special card for you and it is in their bag ready for Sunday.
