Christmas Cheer!
What a festive and fun-filled week we’ve had in Reception! The classroom has been buzzing with excitement as we’ve enjoyed all things Christmas. The children have loved sharing lots of funny Santa stories, getting creative with Christmas crafts, making their own presents and cards, and helping to decorate our classroom ready for the holidays. It’s certainly beginning to look very sparkly!
In maths, we’ve been checking the December calendar each day to count down to the end of term. The children have also enjoyed playing dice games such as Snakes and Ladders. These games are brilliant for building subitising skills and helping children match the number on the dice to their movements around the board. If you have any dice games at home, please do give them a try—they’re a fun and easy way to support early maths skills.
In phonics, we have learnt the sounds b, h, f, ff, and the children are continuing to grow in confidence with recognising sounds and using them in their early reading and writing.
A reminder that next Friday is our last day of term. School finishes at 1:30pm, and the children can look forward to a very well-earned rest after all their hard work this term.
Have a lovely weekend! 🎄✨
