This week we have spent lots of time outside enjoying the sunshine. The children have loved exploring the outdoor area, especially searching for different bugs. We have been learning about why insects are important and how they help our world, from pollinating plants to keeping our environment healthy.

In art, we explored powder paints and experimented with colour mixing. The children worked carefully to mix blue and yellow to create different shades of green, thinking about how they could make lighter and darker tones.

In maths, we looked closely at the beautiful patterns on butterfly wings and introduced the idea of symmetry. The children enjoyed creating their own symmetrical patterns, taking care to make both sides match. We have also been practising counting to 20, and it would be really helpful to continue this at home through everyday activities.

In phonics, we have been revisiting the sounds ch, sh and th. The children have been practising reading and writing simple words using these sounds. Please continue to support this at home by encouraging your child to write simple words in their phonics books.

We hope you have a lovely long weekend- lots of dates to remember next week.

Monday 4th May- Bank holiday (school closed)

Tuesday 5th May- Hearing and ight checks

Thursday 7th May- Polling day (school closed to pupils)
