As part of the SEEN Lewisham festival, we were fortunate to experience the Windrush Front Room exhibition at Broadway Theatre. There, we were learnt what it was like for new arrivals to post-war Britain from the Caribbean, but also from other countries in the world, for example, places in Africa and Asia. We were able to handle items that showed what life was like for those people who had left the comfort of their homes for a new life. We learnt about how they kept elements of their culture alive through belongings in their front rooms.
