Black History Month in 2B!

This month, we have been inspired by various significant black people throughout history. We looked into the lives of scientists, inventors, athletes, explorers, musicians, doctors/nurses, authors, illustrators and many more. Take a look at some of our work!

Home Learning 21.10.21

We hope you are looking forward to the half term holiday as much as we are. This holiday is a time for us to relax and enjoy spending some time at home with our families.

For your home learning we would like you to try and keep a diary about what you have been getting up to each day in the holiday. You could write one sentence about each day or you could pick one particular day and write some sentences about what you got up to. Don’t forget to use capital letters and full stops!

We hope you have a lovely break and we are looking forward to hearing all about what you have been up to when we return.

Year 2 Home Learning – 14.10.21

Over the last few weeks, we have read a lot of books and poems by our author focus, Julia Donaldson.

What are Julia Donaldson's books for kids and which ones are now films?

This week, we would like you to write a poem about a toy of your choice. You
could possibly write an acrostic poem, and/or even try to make your poem rhyme – it is up to you! (Don’t forget to add illustrations too!)

As a school, we have also launched a poetry writing competition, so you might wish to enter in the poem that you write! If you do, all entries will need to be handed in before Friday 22nd October 2021 to be in with a chance of winning a prize!

Home Learning 7.10.21

Last week and this week in Science we have been thinking about what it means to be healthy. We have talked about what a healthy diet consists of and how we can keep our bodies healthy by taking part in regular exercise.

Meet the Athletes - Sports for Schools

Next week we will have a very exciting visitor coming into Holbeach, his name is Frederick Afrifa. Frederick is an athlete and has competed in many races, both nationally and internationally. Lots of you have kindly asked the adults at home to sponsor you in preparation for taking part in sports circuit Frederick will be running during the day. This week we would like you to click on the link below and watch the video. Practise the moves so you are confident for when you take part in the sports circuit.

Don’t forget to log into My Maths and complete your homework this week.

Year 2 – Home Learning 30.9.21

Hello Year 2,

This week, we have been reading/learning the story, ‘The Gruffalo’ by Julia Donaldson! Today, we made puppet theatres to help us retell the story.

For your Home Learning, we would like you to practise retelling the story to someone at home, using your puppet theatres (these will be sent home on Friday).

Also, remember to check My Maths and Bug Club!

Year 2’s Home Learning!

Hello Year 2,

Firstly, we would like to say a big well done for settling so well into the new school year!

As you know, our topic for this term is ‘Toys’. Over the last couple of weeks, you have been bringing in your favourite toys from home to show the class.

This week for your Home Learning, we would like you to become researchers and find out about toys from the past! To do this, we would like you to ask your parents, grandparents, older siblings or any other adults that you know what their favourite toys were when they were younger and why.

You can choose how to record your work, but here are a few suggestions:
– Write about their favourite toy on a piece of paper.
– Design a poster including facts about the toy.

Remember to bring your work in next week. We are looking forward to see what you find out!
