This week we have been using paint to colour mix the right colours to create a picture of our chosen fruit. Can you explain how you used the powder paints for colour mixing?
The children observed closely to draw their shape outline. Then they mixed the colours and used them to add details and colour.
They look beautiful and I can’t wait to display them in the classroom.
We have been learning to paint with powder paints. We are learning to mix the colours carefully and have made so many colours!
Which colour is your favourite?
Well done 1L!
Today, we experimented with pastels. We chose two colours and blended them together. We then made a new name for a new colour!
As we couldn’t go to the museum, we decided to bring the museum to Holbeach!
In the morning, we set up a museum in class and sketched some birds.
We had a picnic in the park. It was lovely and sunny. Nursery joined us too!
After lunch, we made our own birds out of clay. They look wonderful. Well done everyone!
Last week we were experimenting with hot and cold colours. We then wove those colours using paper and card.
This week we have been weaving with ribbon and a felt like material to create hot and cold patterns.
The children enjoyed the process and showed lots of patience when weaving.
Last week we looked at hot and cold colours. Today we learned how to weave paper. We used either hot or cold colours for our weaving.
First we created the weft – the part held in tension (frame). We did this by folding card and cutting into lines into it.
Then we used the strips of paper for the weft – the part that is woven through the frame in an over and under pattern.
Today we played with clay for the first time. We were a little bit reluctant at first but soon got stuck in and made lots of mess!
We used lots of language to describe the clay such as cold, wet, slimy and hard.
Next we used the clay to make a collaborative painting.
