In our Science lessons 2T have been learning about different forces. Last week we carried out an experiment to test the friction between a toy car and different surfaces. We carried out a fair test to see how much friction there was.
The materials we tested were:
- bubble wrap
- shiny material
- wooden floor
- corrugated card
We made sure that each test was fair by using the same size ramp, car, starting pount and whiteboard.
What we found out:
- Joel- ‘The corrugated card was so rough, the car got stuck, there was a lot of friction.’
- Alessia- ‘The wooden floor was so smooth, our car travelled really far’
- Jemima-‘I think the wooden floor had not much friction with the car because it went so far’
- Asher- ‘The shiny material was really smooth too, our car went a long way. I think that has not much friction.
Great work 2T! Can you tell someone at home what you have learnt about friction.
