In computing this half-term we will be programming bee bots. This week we have experimented with the different buttons and moving them around the carpet.
Can you remember what buttons are on the bee bot? Which one do you press to start your bee bot? What direction buttons are on the bee bot?
It is fantastic to see our topic of ‘Let’s be Farmers’ really engaging the children. They have loved growing so much that they have brought in seeds from home to grow.
When eating fruit, the children collected the seeds to see what would grow in our outside area. They have been so patient during this busy half-term and we finally had some time this afternoon to plant those seeds! (If you were not in school today, we have saved your seeds for you.)
Year 1 have been so good at growing, I’m sure these seeds are going to grow really well.
Today 1S performed their class assembly. The children have been working really hard to practise their lines, learn songs and play the boomwhackers. There are some photos below.
Unfortunately, circumstances have meant that quite a lot of children missed our class assembly. Don’t worry, when we come back from the half-term we will film it for the blog.
You can draw the shapes you see, write a list of the shapes or make a tally chart like the one below.
In Science we have been looking at trees and plants. As part of your home learning this week you will be getting a Tree Hunt sheet. Over the half term you could go on a walk around your local area/park to see how many different trees you can identify.
This week is the last in a busy half term so make sure you also take some time next week to relax and enjoy your time off. We look forward to seeing you all in June for the start of the next Summer Term!
We have had a very busy week so far in 1S, getting ready for our class assembly tomorrow and preparing for Friday’s celebration.
Don’t forget that on Friday we will be having a whole school picnic to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee. We are also having a ‘Red, White and Blue Day’ where you can wear clothes of that colour.
We made bunting ready to celebrate. Can you guess where we got our inspiration from?
Today was our last tennis session. Unfortunately the wet weather meant that we had it in the hall rather than at the tennis courts. We still managed to practise lots of skills and enjoy our session.
Take a look at the pictures below to tell someone at home what activities you did today.

Last week we were practising telling the story of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. We also wrote the story and decided to read it to someone special!
The giant at the top of the school has been really grumpy recently (he’s usually a friendly giant!!). He has been so grumpy because he has had trouble sleeping. So we read him our stories and managed to send him to sleep!
