Year 2 Home Learning – 2.3.23

Hello Year 2,

In Geography, we have started learning about the oceans and continents that make up our wonderful world! Can you remember the names of all 7 continents and 5 oceans? (Answers below).

Use the mnemonic to help you remember the continents of the world?
Eat An Apple After A Night-time Snack

For your Home Learning, we would like you to design a poster showing any information/facts you find out about one of the continents. Remember to bring your work in to show the class!

Oceans – Arctic Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, Pacific Ocean and Southern Ocean

Red Class and the Dragon Eggs

Red Class are a curious crew and we wondered what dragon eggs might taste like. So, we wrote a letter to the dragon to ask for some eggs. We sent a class letter, full of flattery like the Paper Bag Princess uses, and a decorated envelope each.

The next day, Mrs. Davidson delivered an urgent parcel to us after lunch, inside was a letter from the dragon and each of our envelopes had a dragon’s egg inside!

We all wrote back to the dragon to thank him for the eggs and to let him know what we thought of them. Thank you dragon!

Day 8 and 9 with the Ducklings in 1G

The last two days with the ducklings has been so much fun!

1G have continued to write in their duckling diaries to record all about ducklings and their time here at Holbeach!

The children have all had an opportunity to hold one of the ducklings, they were so gentle and careful!

1G have watched the ducklings splashing, swimming and diving!

They have had the ducklings out and walking around the classroom!

The children are very sad that today is our last day with the ducklings 🙁

Fluffy Duffy diving!

Year 1 Home Learning

This week it is World Book Day on Friday 3rd March 2023 so.. year 1 home learning this week is all about reading!

Please listen to your child reading every day, for 10 minutes. This helps their reading skills but also improves their language and builds their confidence 🙂

Don’t forget to visit Bug Club for more books to read! Look out for the bug on each page to answer a comprehension question as you are reading. Your login is inside your reading record.

This week we would like you to write a book review. You can choose the book that you chose a character from, for dressing up! For example if you dress up as Goldilocks then write a review of the book ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’!
