Goodbye Nursery!
Farewell 6F!
Red Class Summer Party

We had so much fun at our party today! In the morning, we made hats, look how fancy we are.
We started our party with a cooling ice lolly and a film.
Then, we played the chocolate game. We had to wiggle our faces to move the chocolate down to our mouths. No hands! We had quite sticky faces.
After that, we played musical statues.
Then, we had some party food, yum!
We finished with a game of Simon Says. Thank you for being such fantastic party people Red Class!
Culture Week in Red Class
Culture Week in Purple Class
This week we have enjoyed celebrating our amazing and diverse community. It has been such an exciting and busy week for everyone involved. Each class spent the week finding out about a different country, including food, art, music and physical geography.
Purple class enjoyed learning all about the country Somalia!

Food tasting was a fun way to introduce the country Somalia:

We learnt how to weave:

We looked at Somalian fabric and designed our own vibrant patterns:

A huge thank you to Rohan’s mum who visited the Reception classes to share a story with us that was read to her when she was a little girl! You can watch a version of this story below.

On Friday children had the opportunity to dress in national dress, clothes that represent their country or the country they have been learning about in class. We ended Culture Week with a parade around the school.

Culture week in the Nursery
This week we have been learning about the world that we live in. Our focus country was Somalia.
Here are some of the activities the children have enjoyed.
We explored the world map. We learnt about Mo Farah. He was born in Somalia and worked hard for a better life in England. We tasted some Somalian food. It was spicy! The dates were sweet! We made Somalian pancakes out of playdough. We explored different spices. We looked at African fabrics and patterns. We did some weaving. We learnt about the city we live in. We designed some Henna patterns. We went on a parade and showed off our traditional clothes.
