Isle of Wight – Thursday

We had another very busy day today. We set off at 9.45 for a walk along the pier, followed by shopping in Sandown. The shops in Sandown are much cheaper than the posh shops at Carisbrooke Castle and Osborne House, so we bought lots of souvenirs and presents (as well as more drinks because it was so hot).

We sat by a lake to eat our lunch and then we played on the swings and roundabout.

At 1.30 we went to Yaverland Beach with Peter, from Dinosaur Isle. He told us about coastal erosion and explained how to find and identify fossils. We found lots of interesting things.

After the fossil hunt, we visited the museum and found lots of information.

We had a final play in the park and then made the long walk back for dinner, where we all cleared our plates again!

Finally, we went to the beach to paddle, play football/cricket and bury each other in sand. We are looking forward to Robin Hill tomorrow and several of us are desperate to go on the Squirrel Safari.
