Goldilocks and The Three Bears
This week we have started our new topic on traditional tales. In literacy we read the story, ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We acted out the story using puppets and made story maps to help us retell the story in the correct order.
We enjoyed making porridge for the bears and used mathematical language to compare and order the different sized bowls for the bears.
Bears on the game board – The children were asked to make up their own games using the base boards, dice, chess pieces, counters and bears. They were very inventive and made up lots of games to play with their friends.
In the outside area, Elizabeth and Rebecca decided to work together to build the Bear’s cottage using the canes and crates to create a tent structure. They had to problem solve when the structure kept blowing over in the wind. They were very proud of their achievement!
The children have been looking at the concept of fair and unfair this week. Whilst playing in the bear’s cottage the children were encouraged to cut and share their fruit with their friends. They discussed the reasons why we need share fairly and they all enjoyed eating their cut pieces of fruit. The children have really enjoyed playing in the bear’s cottage and have had fun setting up parties for the baby bear.
